On the Saturday before Christmas we met my side of the family at Temple Square to see the lights and grab dinner. Note-to-self, it is crazy busy downtown the closer you get to Christmas and I almost resolved to never go again, we will see ;) It is definitely pretty and it is always fun to get everyone together.
Christmas eve, we slept-in and then headed down to Provo to spend the evening with my family, we had a yummy dinner of chimichangas and seriously stuffed ourselves. Then the kiddos opened Christmas jammies from Grammie, decorated cookies for Santa, and we drove home. We didn't have any 'Christmas medicine' which was kind of stressing Jorden out, but the clincher was when I broke out a couple of Christmas stories to read before bedtime, part-way through The Polar Express, Cameron threw-up, missed the book, but got his sheets and the floor :( He got a shower and his bedding was thrown in the washer for an express wash. He was curled up on his bare mattress when we came back up stairs to make his bed and after we had lifted him off to put the sheets back on, he threw-up again, no messed-up bedding this time though. He was tucked-in with a pink hospital bucket beside him. The boys were all asleep and we finally got to tuck ourselves in as well, until ~4:30 when we heard Jorden yelling for us, our first thought was: "great, another one bites the dust..." but really he was just alerting us that Cam had thrown-up, again! Well, we again, stripped his bed, threw in another load of puked-on laundry and were very surprised the boys didn't run in the front room and insist on opening gifts, since Santa had come already, Jorden asked if we could, but as soon as I told him Garrett was still asleep, he was okay with going back to bed, Cam was 'tucked-in' on a chux pad and a spare blanket around him and they both fell back to sleep, miraculously, and they didn't 'really' wake-up until around 8:30!
When the morning was truly started, the boys were quite excited, they had to wait a few minutes while I got the breakfast casserole in the oven and then we got started. I make them take turns and we open one-at-a-time (to make it last longer)...they were spoiled and got some very fun gifts:
Jorden: Kindle, Lego Technic Helicopter and Wii U game
Cameron: Lego Christmas Cottage, (2) huge easel pads + Lego pencil sharpener + colored pencils + twistable crayons--for all the drawing he does :) and Wii U game
Garrett: Lego Monster Fighters 'Crazy Scientist' set, Lego Duplo block bucket and Wii U game
Opened last was a big present for all three boys: a new, black Wii U to share! {they were funny as they opened their individual Wii U games, confused because they didn't have a Wii U, they thought Santa made a mistake}
Dad: a new suit, bow tie, running shirt and new jeans
Mom: new running shoes, pens for work, Camelbac insulated water bottle and mascara
Baby Jane: brag book, 3-pack of pink :), long-sleeved onesies, bottle, and a wire "J" for her wall
It was very fun and they had fun opening the gifts they got for one another, Scott and I ate breakfast and the boys started opening their respective Lego sets to start building. It was such a good day even though Cam was sick, he only threw-up one more time while we were opening presents (gratefully he made it into the pink bucket), poor kid fell asleep on the couch while we were waiting for the grandparents to show-up.
Grammie & Grandpa came up around 5 to see what the kiddos got from Santa and bring 'Grammie Claus' presents--again, definitely NOT disappointed. We had dinner together: Tomato-Basil Parmesan soup with rolls and chocolate layer dessert.
Grammie had fun helping put Lego sets together with Scott and the boys and I had fun helping Grandpa configure Grammie's new iPad.
A very fun day and very fun to be with my family and not be dead-tired, I love Christmas!
