Priceless

*working a nightshift, then...
*donning an oh-so-fashionable hospital gown & regulation booties...removing all metal (including retainer)...wearing eye patches and head phones with 101.9 The End blasting...sliding into tiny tube that emits deafening sounds...remaining absolutely still, which means the saliva flows like a vengeance because I know I can't swallow, $298.00 co-pay
*receiving a shipment of Copaxone and giving myself a 'poke' every night, $207.11 co-pay
*going back to the MS Clinic with two kids under 4, $25.00 co-pay
*hearing you have no new lesions in your brain, priceless!

Yeah!

Time is of the essence

I am sitting here wittling away the minutes before I walk up the hill to retrieve my 6 year-old from school. Normal thing to do, yes. But if you could have been a fly on my wall yesterday and this morning you would realize the significance of one: my attention to the time and two: the fact that I am indeed awake/conscious.
Yesterday, was Monday, I am usually in "survival mode" on Mondays because I am going on a couple hours sleep after working all night. Well, yesterday was a rare Monday where I actually got my 'usual' nine hours of sleep. It was a pleasant day and after I laid Garrett down for his usual 3-hour nap and convinced Cam to have his quiet time in front of "Cars", I went in my room, turned the fan in high, closed the curtains and set my alarm clock for 3:05, enough time to hatch and go up to the school to get the boy...well, didn't quite happen that way, I woke-up at 4:00 to my alarm beeping and the sound of the door opening, I snuggled back into my pillow thinking Jorden had walked home with Natalie and he let himself in. Oh no, it was Scott who was called by the school because the phone call to the house and my cell phone went unanswered, they were 'worried about Jorden's mom' and called Scott to come get him...incidentally, they also called Natalie to figure out what was up with the defunct mother of Jorden (Natalie's little girl was sick that day and therefore didn't go up to the school).
So I feel, again, like Mother-of-the-Year.
This morning, as I walked Jorden to school, I was quizzed on whether or not I would show-up to pick him up or if I would be asleep. He asked me twice if I was tired, I said I was, and he responded by saying, "oh man."
So off I go to live up to my promise...happy day.
