Christmas is magic!!!

Christmas 2010
We had so much fun, we went down to Provo for Christmas Eve dinner with the fam and got to go see Debbie, Jared and baby Violet in the hospital--she is so cute!!!! Dinner was fantastic (especially after my 4 1/2 mile run). We had cookies, frosting & sprinkles for the kiddos to decorate and leave for Santa, then grand kids opened their Christmas jammies from Grammie and we headed home so we wouldn't miss Santa. After a dose of Christmas medicine the boys were snug in their beds until about 8...Santa had come!!! The boys were not disappointed, there were a plethora of Legos, a tee-pee, a racing car and movies...it was a blast. Hot chocolate and breakfast casserole tided our tummies until the Tomato Basil Parmesan soup was ready and then I went to work. It was perfect!

Lights at Temple Square

We met up with my family to see the lights Downtown...it was cold, but beautiful as usual.

Scott got to go down with his family after Thanksgiving when his parents were still in town, I unfortunately had to work. Maybe next year... ;)

It is SNOW fun!

Right when we thought we were going to have a 'green' Christmas, Mother Nature surprised us with a lot of ***snow***. The sun came out and after bundling the children reminiscent of The Christmas Story we went out to make ourselves a Frosty the Snowman. Max had fun too, but really just wanted to eat Frosty.

Merry Christmas from the Messel's

pastedGraphic.pdf Merry Christmas…

How is it that it is Christmas again already?! We want to give you a little update on our fam: Jorden, 8, was baptized this last summer, he is in the 3rd grade and is having a good year, his teacher is awesome and I love helping out in his class. He started taking Karate and is a yellow belt. He is a full-fledged cub scout which I also get to participate in. (I knew it was coming with three boys). Cameron, 5, is taking another year of preschool and loves it; he is very funny and has a lot of fun playing with friends. Over the summer he mastered the art of riding a two-wheeler without training wheels. Garrett, 2 ½ , ‘graduated’ from Early Intervention and now talks a lot, he loves going to Sister Kynaston’s on Wednesdays when I go to work, he also loves his ‘tiny Woody & Buzz’ Lego guys and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Scott is still at Kaysville City and has kept himself busy around the house, installing tile in both the kitchen and downstairs bathroom. He enjoys working in the yard (and everyone else’s yard) and playing with the old VW bug “Oscar”. Rachel, I am still at McKay-Dee in the NICU and went full-time in April, not fun, but I am grateful to have a good job. I am now a Wolf Leader in cub scouts. I am also training to run my first half marathon in January. Max, 6 months, is our black Miniature Schnauzer that we got in September; he is a cute little stinker that keeps us on our toes.

Happy Holidays with love from the Messel’s!

Yesterday was my first Tysabri infusion. I went armed with a new book and a pack of gum because I knew I would have to sit there for the hour-long infusion and then sit for another hour to be monitored for adverse reactions. All went well.
But I have to admit my sadness...this new medication means I shouldn't have more babies. I haven't sent Scott out to get snipped or anything, but it sure sucks--I already told Debbie I am going to have to kidnap her baby when she is born. I really wanted more. Scott has told me I should be grateful for the 3 little boys I have--and I am, but it still stings. No one likes to be told what to do. So I sit here sad thinking I should probably go through the baby stuff and give it to Debbie.
I have spent the summer anticipating yesterday. It almost feels like Scott was trying to compensate for lost dreams when he brought 'Max' home, a little black Miniature Schnauzer. He is cute, but he is not a baby.
So sorry for the bummer post, but I had to unload, my baggage was getting too hard to carry...

sigh...

Last week was crazy for me, I don't usually work during the week so I can be home with my kids, but ended up working every-other day and then to top it off was called-in on Friday, right when we were going to start-up the 3rd season of Big Bang Theory with Debbie & Jared.
Needless to say work has felt like my home-away-from-home, I feel bad that I am so tired and usually ornery with my family. I can't complain that I have a good job that does allow me to be home with my kids so much...but oh man to just be a "stay-at-home" mom.
So this afternoon I got dressed, lunch packed and ready to head out the door when I noticed a missed call on my cell from work--I called in and found out they were calling-off 5 people and it was my turn, but would I please be on-call. I said sure and changed out of my scrubs, excited for my unexpected freedom. The only problem was a little later I noticed 2 more missed calls from work, goodness, I called back within 15 minutes and they said they had needed me to come in, but had called another girl. They asked if I wanted to be the one that worked and I told them not to worry about it and I would just stay on-call.

But now I sit here and think, retard, it would have been 'time & a half'...oh well, at least I have enough PTO if I don't get called-in.

Someday, maybe, I will hold that elusive title of SAHM...here's hoping!

Ahh, the 'Mammoth' P-rade

After getting off a night-shift, waking Scott and the boys up when I got home at 4 am we drove down to Fairview where Scott and I ran the 5K...then after a shower at his parent's motel room we went back to Uncle Vaughn's for our prime seat for the p-rade. These are the best, they still throw candy at these p-rades, I do believe I was nodding off throughout the whole thing, but caught my share of derby cars, emergency vehicles, and pageant princesses. After that I went back to the motel and crashed while the boys stayed for the BBQ and opening of the time capsule we put in the grainary cellar. We ended up leaving for home while everyone else went up the mountain--we wish we would have stayed, but alas I needed sleep!

My idea of camping

I found this awesome firepit at Sundance and while I am not a "camper" per se, I wanted to give it a trial run, so we set-up our tent and had a camp-out in the backyard, the boys did well and we all got some sleep.

Cub Scout Day Camp @ Camp Fife...the boys had a blast!!!
They were able to do archery, a dirt bike course, zip line, relay race and were able to spend cold-hard cash in the camp store.
