soooooweee...here piggy, piggy!

Yes, the rumors are true, Cam and I have 'swine flu', well actually Influenza A... We both got sick within a day of each other with a high fever, headache, sore throat, cough, achy, lethargic...not fun! Our home has been split into two separate areas...the 'well people' area and the basement of ickyness. We were both prescribed Tamiflu, but the oral suspension tastes awful so Cam, after hiding under a blanket and then covering his mouth and crying while I was trying to give his medicine tonight said:

Cameron: 'It tastes yucky!'
Me: 'You need to take your medicine so will get better.'
Cameron: 'NO, I want to be sick!'

Everyone please, cover your coughs, stay home if you don't feel well, WASH your hands a lot!

We are sorry if we have unknowingly spread the virus to any of our friends or family. In my reading I found that like the seasonal flu, the H1N1 Flu, can be contagious about a day before you develop symptoms and for 7 days after the start of your symptoms, or at least 24 hours after symptoms resolve (whichever is longer.)

The CDC's website was great to read about the 'truth' regarding this new strain of the flu:

FOUR years old!!!

Our little buddy, famous for his quotes and awesome antics, is 4.

Cam loves: Lego Star Wars on Wii, making numerous Wii people (he remembers them all and yes, you can make so many Wii people, that it fills it up and you can't make any more), playing anything on the Wii--catching an obsession here?, he likes riding his Strider bike, his Sunbeam friends at church, Scooby-Doo and 'Front Runner' (aka Road Runner from Bugs Bunny), he loves drinking water, is stubborn and sweet, he loves stories and sucking his thumb, swimming, playing games, being first or in the lead, Mac-n-cheese, candy, laughing...he is fiesty and we love him to death, we can't imagine life without our Camster.

You're awesome Cam, happy birthday bud!

Ode to the Big Green Beastie

If you saw Scott yesterday you would have sworn it was Christmas morning, he was so excited and just antsy...it was the Burger Stop's 16th Birthday Car Show (click to see more pics ), and the Travelall's debut appearance, it has had a car wash at least 3 times in the last week, including one nice shiny wax treatment.
The boys and I met Scott at the end of the show and were able to see some of the fare that participated, our V-dub friends came with their two buses, and participant base was the best Burger Stop has ever seen, with 205 entries.
The rest of the night Scott kept thanking me for the chance to put the TA in the show, no problem pal, anytime...
P.S. if you ever want 20 seven-year-olds to simultaneously stop what they are doing and forget they were playing a baseball game, have an ice cream truck drive by with music blaring...it is hilarious.

Stay-cation

So we were off to see the dentist, the wonderful dentist in Spanish Fork...
We love Dr. Tom, he was my dentist growing-up and all I can say is that I am a sucker for continuity of care. It could be because every time I go there for an exam and cleaning I get compliments about my *ahem* beautiful teeth, (really I love the praise), or it could be that I never have cavities.
Poor Scott, on the other hand, not so lucky. Oh, they love Scott, every time I visit the dentist, I am told that I have the best husband and that he is a great guy (I whole-heartedly agree), but the man can't win. We just finished getting him a crown, and at the intial appointment had a cavity filled as well. He gags pretty easy and so it is not a pleasant experience for him. (the positive reinforcement is not there like it is for me.)
But we paid for the crown today (thank goodness for flex spending plans) and due to our timely arrival in Spanish Fork were able to squeeze in a job of internally bleaching his #7 tooth that had died and was discolored.
Now, I come along to most of Scott's appointments because he opts for the laughing gas to make it through the appointments, while the gas makes dental work tolerable, it makes him kind of sick (we had a little incident involving a spare grocery sack in the car--imagine the girl in the adjacent car looking over and gagging herself at the sight). So today we had all three little boys with us, we watched a rad re-run of Scooby Doo and then met Grammie for lunch after, we tried the swimming thing, but the water was ice-cold...Cam wanted to swim so bad he stripped down and waded on the first step, (next time buddy, summer has finally come and we might break 85 degrees soon.)
Our little impromptu trip also yielded a rendez-vous with Becky, my dad and Aunt Reta. We ate at Lotus Garden for dinner and Becky admitted to saying a little prayer that we wouldn't die after eating there. ;) (Thanks Dad! we love you!)
I drove home and have since put all my boys to bed, Scott with the help of a nice painkiller and the little boys after a long, fun day!
Perhaps not any normal person's idea of a 'stay-cation', but really we don't have anything else going on...

SEVEN years old!!!

Jorden's birthday is TODAY, he is now 7 years-old!
He likes: legos, transformers, bakugan, eating steak, VW's, chocolate cake, laughing, reading, playing with clay, making his brothers laugh, helping Dad and Mom, recess, lunch (pizza, meat sandwiches, pumkin pie), watching cartoons, running, riding bikes, swimming, singing, drawing, Orange Fanta, The Simpson's, picking out his own clothes to wear, 'ants-on-a-log', his black fuzzy blanket from Grammie, playing with friends & cousins, playing games on Wii, getting up early with Dad [whose kid is he?!], helping Mom in the kitchen [especially cracking the eggs], jumping on a tramp, soccer, baseball...
There are so many things that we love about Jorden...he brings a smile wherever he goes and we love him to the end of the sky and back!

Warning...are you kidding me?!

So we are on our way to the dentist for an emergency visit, Scott is driving, the boys are in the back and we see the state trooper on the side, radar gun aimed at our nose...He pulls into traffic, makes the driver in the car behind us wet himself and then those da** blinky lights again.
We are dying, because, really, another ticket is not what we needed right now. The trooper comes to the window requesting the usual and then after doing whatever comes back and asks Scott why he hasn't updated his address information with the Drivers Licence Division--oops, then he asks him what he had his cruise control set at (umm, nothing, he wasn't using the cruise control, what do you really want me to say? 75 or so?) The officer then tells Scott not to set the cruise so high (wink, wink) and if he ever pulls him over again he would get the full fine.
We are free to go, don't get me wrong, we were both like, what?, did that really happen, we didn't get a ticket, that was awwwesome. I only wish I could have been that lucky!

Summer, how I have missed you

It is June already?! And June 8th at that. Holy schniekies Batman, where does the time go? Jorden is out of school, it was a great year, I have to say (with limited experience in the arena) that first grade is the best--your child is learning by leaps and bounds, they love school and the teachers are amazing.
Today was the first official day of summer break, being a Monday, but I had to work last night, so today was the ultimate in unscheduled freedom, the Wii was on all day long and I think Cameron was in heaven having a friend to play with--the look on his face at lunch time said it all. ...After family night the "activity" was a sleep-over on the hide-a-bed in the basement for the big boys.
Summer...bring it on!...

A couple of things we have been doing lately:
We planted a garden
Replaced the can light over the kitchen sink with a gorgeous pendant we found in Edmonds (I actually helped with this one)
Jorden started coach pitch baseball
First swim in Mom & Dad's pool
Our nephew, Sam's, blessing
I mowed the lawn for the second time in my life, and liked it a lot--straight lines make me happy, very happy... ;) But a caution out there, don't ever mow with your blackberry clipped to your person--the results are not good (no, it wasn't me)
