Pioneer Day or "The 24th" is traditionally spent in Fairview...this year was the same. Feels like de ja vous, after working all night I got home and woke Scott up, then Garrett (the big boys were already down there with Grandma & Grandpa Messel) and we left for the 2 hour drive to Sanpete County. We got there in time to do the fun run 5K...I had a stopwatch to time ourselves and we were off, it was freezing cold until the sun came out. We did okay, but as we crossed the finish line I pushed "a" button--not the stop button on the stopwatch, by the time I noticed I did it wrong it said 31:24...so I think we did it in about 30 minutes, not too shabby! After the race we went to Mt. Pleasant to the Horseshoe Motel where Scott's parents were gracious enough to reserve 3 rooms, after a shower the boys went back to Fairview to catch the 'Mammoth Parade' while sitting on Uncle Vaughn's front lawn--I crashed in the motel and slept for several hours until Scott came back to get me for the BBQ. We visited and the kids played games and had fun with water balloons and the slip-n-slide until it was time for fireworks. Scott's cousins, Brandon and Darren were in charge and put on a great display, then it was time for the city fireworks. We then went back to the motel for a good night's sleep. Sunday, we headed back to Fairview so we could all go up the canyon to the Fairview Lakes for a picnic and fun on the mountain. It is so beautiful up there, the kids went and caught tadpoles and some of the guys tried fishing (nothing was biting)...there was a treasure hunt and some nature-graffiti in the family spot. When we got back down the mountain it was time for swimming at the motel pool. The kids had a blast and after a meal at the El Mexicano (p.s. there is not much open on Sunday's in Sanpete County for those individuals wanting to break the Sabbath). Monday morning we packed up and headed for home, stopping in Spanish Fork for lunch then home.
