Early Thanksgiving

It really should be tattooed on my forehead, but I always say that my choice of major and subsequent career are a blessing and a curse.  With my college degree I can get a job just about anywhere, and can cater my field to my interest (and I could change that specialty if I wanted to), and the hours work well with my family, such that since we fall in the group of middle-class Americans that 'have to have' both spouses work we are able to have one of us at home while other is away.  I haven't put my kids in daycare (unless you call Sister Kynaston my daycare--sweet lady that she is willing to watch my boys on Wednesdays so I don't have to work Fri/Sat/Sun every weekend).  But along with this blessing is the curse, that I can work and make really good moola doing it...the other downside is holidays, I work at a hospital and they are always open.
This year I had Christmas off, since I worked it last year, but that meant I needed to work Thanksgiving, a little bummer, but my parents said they would do Turkey Day later so I could come.  My own little family decided to have 'early Thanksgiving' the day before.  Scott and I made a little turkey that had been sitting in our freezer, we had mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, salad, corn and it was delicious, it was just us and nice to be together.
Our delayed Thanksgiving with my side of the family was hosted at Mom & Dad's, the spread was fantastic and didnt disappoint, the turkey was so moist and my dad's cranberry, sausage stuffing: to die for!

I am grateful for so many things, especially my family, my sweet husband, my boys and this little girl that is coming, my little house that keeps us safe, my health, the freedoms we enjoy, the gospel...and yes, I am grateful that the day after our 'Early Thanksgiving' I was able to go in to work and take care of other mom's babies.

It's a...

We went in yesterday for our ultrasound but I neglected to remember staff meeting which meant I would have to go in to work at 1:00 p.m. instead of 2:30, which also meant I would have to leave before the boys got home from school--read I was not going to have my cute family find out before I did what this baby was...I had big plans with a borrowed idea from a friend, as a compromise to waiting until the baby was actually birthed...we told the ultrasound lady that we were going to find out but we wanted her to write it down and seal it in an envelope so I could take said envelope to the store where I would pick out both a boy & girl outfit, leave the appropriate amount of change and tell her to open the envelope find out what we were having and then ring-up and wrap the appropriate outfit.
So today after a good morning nap and after Garrett went to preschool, Scott and I met my mom and sister at City Creek and we frequented The Gap where we followed the plan...the sales clerk was cute about it and after we grabbed lunch at Chick-fil-a we went back and picked up our wrapped package, we took it home and had everyone give a final guess as to what it would be (Jorden--boy, Cameron--boy, Garrett--girl, Grammie--girl, Aunt Debbie--boy, Scott--girl, Me--boy)...we had Garrett open the present and with the excitement and extra care he took with opening the package we were all getting anxious until he pulled out the little pink outfit!

We are so excited and can't wait for a little GIRL to come join our family of boys!
