2009, ready or not, here I come!

I had a nice surprise and got called-off New Year's Eve so I was able to join Scott & the boys down at my parent's house for a New Year's smorgasbord...we all ate our weight in the most delicious of appetizers, played games and occasionally checked-in on the children as they nearly re-enacted a scene from "Lord of the Flies"...perhaps we shouldn't let a movie baby-sit them next year. ;)

Christmas at our house...

December 24th: Scott had a half day with a holiday lunch party, meanwhile the boys and I made cookies for Santa. When Scott got home the boys opened their Christmas Jammies and I got ready to go to work--I was bummed I had to go in, but such is the life when you work at a hospital. Scott and the boys went to Uncle Brent & Aunt Emily's house for fondue ( I was quite bummed to miss out on meeting up with family and the yummy food). Everything worked out and while Santa did not come until after I got home, it was a good day.
December 25th: Garrett was the first one up, but thankfully went back to sleep after a morning 'snack', the big boys finally woke-up at about 8 (we didn't need "Christmas Medicine" this year, perhaps in the next few it will have to make an appearance). It was so much fun, they were very excited. I was anal and made them take turns opening their presents, a little 'tradition' from when I was growing-up, we had breakfast casserole and then got a call from Grammie, Grandpa, Debbie, Becky, Nathan & Katie that they were coming up before the storm hit. So we switched gears and got the ham ready and in the oven for dinner at our house...we had honey-glazed ham, yummy (funeral) potatoes, Shirley's rolls, corn, salad, and chocolate-layer dessert. We amazingly fit everyone in our kitchen. It was fabulous.

We love Christmas and the magic that settles in for the season, The boys are at such a fun age... we BELIEVE at our house and Santa delivered more than just toys, he brought smiles and a sense of nostalgia and joy to Scott and I.
