"C" is for Cameron

Cameron, hard to believe our feisty middle son is now 5! I am so glad we have our Cam, he makes us laugh and cry sometimes, he keeps us constantly entertained {for example: he was being watched by our nice friends, the Kynaston's--they gave him a pea pod to eat, he warily looked at it and then told them he liked i-pods, but didn't think he liked pea pods}

Here fishy, fishy...

Yesterday for our den meeting we went to The Ponds, our three scouts learned the rules/regulations of fishing and then the boys learned how to cast their lines. Jorden did great, he even caught his first fish: a catfish! He was the only one of the bunch.

It was awesome...I am so sad I didn't have my camera or phone to take a picture.

Neighborhood BBQ--farewell party

We had a fun get-together in the backyard with friends and enjoyed fun and great food...sadly though it was in part to say goodbye to some dear friends that were moving to greener pastures. The Huff's and Robert's--we will miss you guys!!!

crash, boom, bang, bwahaaa....!

Early this morning I went down to Salt Lake for my cousins wedding, Scott stayed home with the boys. After the luncheon I came home and fully intended to take a nap, but saw my swimsuit and with the nice, nearly-80 degree weather I thought, "hmmm, what a nice day to swim, Cherry Hill, here I come." I went downstairs to get the boys ready, when I looked at Jorden--his left eye was completely red and weepy. Yikes, there went the swimming idea. I called the eye doctor and off we went to Provo to make sure the infection didn't invade his cornea. On the way down I was really drowsy, I kept blinking, trying to stay awake...Next thing I know, I am veering off the road, jarred to consciousness with a blazing orange traffic barrel in my face--ahhhhhh! I swerve, the barrel swipes the side of the bug and we go spinning, I don't know how many turns we did, but we definitely were facing the wrong direction for a second and nearly rolled, I went from the far right lane to the carpool lane and came to a stop, I put on my emergency flashers and made sure Jorden was okay. We were fine--shaken, but fine, the car was okay and no one else crashed because of us. Complete miracle! One guy stopped by me while I was catching my breath, and you could see he was asking if we were alright, I gave him a thumbs up and then I took off, fully awake this time. We made it the Dr.'s office, went in, got the prescriptions and then headed home, grateful we were driving home and not in a hospital or smeared on the freeway. Maverick, 'Adventure's First Stop' was our friend by supplying the Dr. Pepper and Twix for the ride home, Jorden said to me, "Mom, I will just talk to you so you don't get drowsy, okay? And I will sit over here so I can see if your eyelashes are going down."
When we got back and pulled to the curb, Scott immediately saw the evidence and said, "Rach, that looks like a traffic cone, what happened?" I told him the story and we are both still in shock and amazed that nothing happened.

*Moral of the story: NEVER drive drowsy, sleepy, fatigued, tired, etc...

"J" is for Jorden

Happy Birthday to my first-born son...He is 8?! Why I cannot grasp this concept is beyond me, where did the time go, it really was yesterday he was a tiny (okay 9 pound tiny) baby in my arms and I was trying to figure things out. Well, 8 years later, I am still figuring it out, but have a wonderful Jorden here as the fruit of my labors.

Cameronism

Scott: (wrestling with Cam and growling in Cam's ear) grrrr
Cam: Stop Daddy you're hurting my drumsticks
Scott: drumsticks?
Cam: Yeah, the drumsticks in my ears
Scott: Those are ear drums, not drumsticks
Cam: No, Daddy my ear has drumsticks.
