2012 St. George Half Marathon

My 5th Half Marathon commenced with rain and my poor decision to wear the "cute", albeit short, running shorts I have instead of the sensible long running pants I brought.  It wasn't really too cold, just lacking in the famous St. George sun that I have come to know and love and truly missed that morning.
One thing in my favor was that my iPhone was charged and ready, I had long ago figured out how to make the iPod portion work and there were indeed tunes playing at random from my running playlist that was synced into my running app so I could have a voice-over telling me at 0.5 mile increments how fast my pace was.  So check that was in my favor.
Unfortunately around mile 6-7 I had to visit the port-a-potty, which I paused my running app for and as soon as I was finished could restart my progress on my app, sadly the chip on my shoe does not stop the timer.  But I ran my little heart out and was keeping a pretty good pace.  I started out with the 2:10 pace runners but pulled ahead of them shortly after the race started, the darn necessity for the portable restroom hampered any hope of beating my PR.
It was around mile 11'ish that it started to rain more, the water dripping down my person did not mesh well with the attire I had chosen and the genetics that 'blessed' me with big thighs--ones that meet in the middle. I kept reaching to pull the little bit of material between my legs down so that I wasn't creating a wedgie for myself, but the damage was done.  I made it to the finish line, crossed with a finish time of: 2:10:18 (thanks to MapMyRUN and the ability to pause for certain breaks) my chip time was: 2:16:47.3
Scott was waiting for me at the finish line--took pictures of me and was the best support ever, it wasn't until I was getting my post-race refreshments and giving a big smooch to Scott that I realized that I was 'injured',  a serious case of chafing was having a party.  Needless to say, I couldn't walk because my thighs were hamburger, cute short running shorts, never again--perhaps we will have to save you for short 6-mile runs that don't involve precipitation falling from the sky  ;)
